Sculpteen 21

Mid Wales Arts Centre received Welsh Arts Council funding for a sculpture competition called “Sculpteen” to encourage young artists to make a sculpture to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Robert Owen’s birthday.

Eight young artists had their pieces shortlisted from a total of twenty entrants who worked on their sculptures in classes at Mid Wales Arts Centre, near Caersws, during 2021.

The Sculpteen exhibition is now at the museum during February 2022, having been at Newtown library recently. Public voting (in person) is now open in the museum. To vote, enter the museum, Monday to Friday 11am – 3pm and view the entries. There is a voting box inside with voting slips where you will be able to tick your choice from 1 to 8. If you do not have a pen, just ask and the staff will lend you one.

The winning entry will be made into a life sized sculpture.

County Times published an article by Anwen Parry, on Saturday 8th January to advertise the sculpture exhibition which is planned to visit both the library and the museum during 2022. You can vote at either place.  You are also welcome to view this article by the Mid Wales Arts Centre for more information.

Share this with a friend to promote the Robert Owen Museum today. Thanks.
