Birthday procession

251st procession - outside museumOn Saturday 13th May 2023, there will be a procession starting from the museum building in Broad Street, Newtown, to mark the 252nd birthday of Robert Owen. This public event will start at the museum at 12 noon, when you are welcome to join the procession to the statue down the road, with a musical accompaniment. At the statue, Dewi Hughes (Museum trustee) will say a few words about the significance of Robert Owen, followed by a dance by local school children and flowers will also be laid at the foot of the statue. Refreshments will be provided at the museum after the ceremony, to accompany a piece of commemorative birthday cake. The event finishes at 1pm, but the museum will be open until 3pm to allow visitors to stay and see the museum afterwards.  For more details, contact us here
