Volunteering at the museum
WE NEED YOU!
Would you like to help promote and preserve the life and memory of one of Newtown’s most distinguished citizens? The Robert Owen Museum is looking for volunteers to do just that. The museum would like to recruit four new officers to fill the roles of secretary, treasurer, promotions and publicity, and education and community officers. All roles are flexible and voluntary. The roles are ideally suited to people who live in or within reasonable travelling distance Newtown as they involve undertaking duties in the museum and /or liaising with local organisations. There are ten meetings a year which officers attend. These are usually held face to face in the Town Council Chamber but in recent months have been held online. Reasonable expenses will be paid.
Rex Shayler, Chair of the museum said “We have a good team of volunteers and would like to add to its number and strengthen the skills we already have. The recent celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of Owen’s birth have heightened his profile in Newtown and beyond and I would like to build on this.“
